Our story
The founder of the 1550+ program was a 4.0 student, graduated fifth in her class, was accepted to UPenn, earned a Master’s from Johns Hopkins, taught math for seven years…and still managed a “spectacular” 1250 when she took the SAT again as an adult.
A definite improvement from the 1130 she got in high school, but still nothing you’d confidently slap on a website and say,
“Give me your children!”
So she did what any unreasonable person would do and spent the next five years figuring out exactly why smart, hardworking students can be terrible at this test.
That obsession eventually became 1550+.

Our story
The more we learned, the harder it became to accept how SAT prep normally worked. Students could spend months studying and come out the other side no closer to their goal. Money-back guarantees didn’t give families back their time. And even if a kid LOVED their tutor, they weren’t there to make a friend.
They needed a score…
so we started breaking things.
Here’s What We Broke:
The Tutors
✕ Broken
We don’t hire your typical straight-teethed Ivy League grad who got a 1570 without really studying. Being great at the SAT and being able to make someone else great at the SAT are two very different skills.
The Group Class
✕ Broken
Our curriculum is set, but how your student moves through it is not. Their schedule is flexible and they move at their own pace, instead of being rushed forward or held back by the crowd.
The Tutoring Session
✕ Broken
If the tutor is doing most of the thinking and talking, congratulations you’re paying for the wrong person to get better. Our students do the work in the room because they’re the ones taking the test.
The Study Plan
✕ Broken
We don’t hand teenagers an 800-page practice book and tell them to dive in. We target their exact weaknesses so they can spend less time studying and get a higher score faster.
The One-Size Fits All Program
✕ Broken
Every student gets diagnostics, testing, and individual score analysis even inside our group program, so that you can get in, get the score, and be DONE!
The “Realistic” Goal
✕ Broken
Sometimes your goals are “unreasonable”…and we think you should go for them anyway. It certainly wasn’t reasonable for an 1130 scorer to create a program designed to produce 1550+ scores. But here we are.
Real results
Here are a few of our students and how far they’ve come.
Turns out, breaking test prep works pretty well.
We don’t hire people just because they were naturally good at the SAT. We train people through the same kind of transformation we expect them to create for students, and trust us the training is no joke.

Came in at 570 on Verbal. Left at 770. Now coaches students up the same climb.

Started at 490 on Verbal and finished at 770. A 280-point climb, now passed on.

The biggest climb on this page: 430 to 760 on Verbal, the hard way.
800 on Math. Trained the 1550+ way anyway.

A perfect 800 on both sections, up from 530 and 500.
We would rather have someone who knows exactly how to climb the mountain than someone who happened to start near the top.
Better students. Brighter futures.
